Mean what you say, be humble

If you come to God in prayer and you are not meaning what you say, if your heart is not in the right place, if you come with pride or entitlement, if you come to His altar being vain, do not expect God to answer your prayer. You must be humble, truthful, and thankful. Being humble means making oneself small. Do not think your chest is higher than God or others because God will make your chest so high you will not be able to see and you will fall right over a cliff into hell fire. Being truthful means laying everything out on the table, do not cut corners, because God knows all before you even pray to Him. It also means being truthful to yourself. You have to see the lies of the enemy and how it is influencing your relationship with God. Lastly, you must come to the Lord with Thanksgiving so He can see how much you see and appreciate all He is doing, even though you can not physically see it all the time. Even in bad situations, give Him thanks, because it shows you have Faith in Him through the storms in your life.
